This region is world renown for the its beauty and culture. Many of the local people depend on the selling of their handcrafts and goods to survive. These women here work very long hours to create tapestries, dresses, head bands and embroidered shirts. Many of these goods are made from scratch including the thread and fabric.
The Pacific side of Central America is framed with a sequence of very large volcanoes. The volcanoes are an inspiration to the people and often set the backdrop to many scenes.
The Lake Atitlan region has been a cultural and civil hub in Guatemala for thousands of years. Here a girl uses her traditional hip loom to create textiles for market. This style of loom has been in use for over one thousand of years. It's popularity is due to it's portability. their work and sell to the public.
